American Idol and Adam Lambert Controversy
The last night of American Idol Season 8 was incredible. The last two favorites, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert went toe to toe in one of the best shows of the season. Both artists had their own individual sound, their Music seemed to melt the hearts of everyone who listened.

But, what came as a surprising twist was that the frontrunner, Adam Lambert, who was the best idol I’ve ever seen, by far, gave the most outlandish performances I’ve ever seen. Each week, I stood on the edge of my seat just for a chance to hear his immaculate voice. Sadly to say, in the end, my favorite contestant didn’t win. Some say it was sheer homophobia by the viewers. If that’s so, was the reason that he’s gay why he didn’t win the contest?
For me, when I heard Adam Lambert sing, any visions of his sexuality went was oblivious. Also, in my opinion, contest shows such as American Idol should be voted solely on talent. The contestant’s personal background should not be a deciding factor. Like our American democracy, votings on shows such as American Idol should not be influenced by religion, politics, the environment or economic issues. And, the fact that he’s gay had no direct reflection on his amazing talents.
I think the biasness of this country goes much farther than just gay couples on TV programs. People judge on looks, appearances, social economic status and so much more. It’s even prevalent when interviewing for a job.
In the end, the vote for the next American Idol was not a competition between two great and talented individuals, but between sexual behavior.
