I hope I don’t come across as offensive because that is not what I hope to do…
With the recent backlashes of Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert coming out on their sexuality is hiring Ellen as a judge some sort of move to make Idol gay-accepting?
I figure now there will be a lot more openly gay contestants trying out and Ellen being there “gives gays a reason” to now come out.
Anyone agree with what I’m saying..?

I don’t think her sexuality has anything to do with her being a judge.
I think they got her to neutralize Simon
What you are saying makes sence. However, it could backfire on them. I am sure that there are a lot of people out there who are offended that Ellen is on the show and will refuse to watch it. Sad but true. Personally, I don’t have a problem with her but I do wonder what she knows about music.
Yes. And anyone wanting to win now needs to just go on the show and act gayer than anyone else.
Not really. The audience is the one who is gay accepting and gay hating because they are the ones voting. I don’t think Idol was ever less accepting of gays. The first ever Idol winner (talking about the UK Pop Idol) was gay. Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert were never problem with Idol. Clay was incredibly popular and so was Adam. It’s the audience members who are either accepting or not accpeting. I doubt there is any reason for a gay contestants to come out because of Ellen. Plus, the producers have already decided who is going to try out before they audition in front of the Simon, Kara, Randy, and Ellen.
If there are more openly gay contestants trying out, that means the producers had already planned this before choosing Ellen as a judge. I highly doubt that would happen, but of course, I haven’t seen the show yet.
I agree with you— but i don’t think i can watch without Paula… they are really messing this up…. IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT HER,,, NEVER!!
No. I don’t think that’s the reason she’s there. She is there to add some comical relief, ya know?
Paula was ditzy in her own way and the producers saw her as that “relief”.
Now that Paula is gone, they’ve replaced Paula with someone we can LAUGH WITH, and not LAUGH AT.
