Adam Lambert: “Shock Is Fun”
I’m sure most of you have heard about and seen Adam Lambert’s “shocking” performance on the American Music Awards (AMAs) recently from November 22nd, the day before his cd Album came out. Everyone has been RAVING about it ever since. Especially people on Twitter because I saw them buzzing all over about his performance with their opinions and thoughts. For those of you who don’t know what the fuss was all about, here’s what happened.
Adam was scheduled to perform his cd Debut song: “For Your Entertainment”, live, on the American Music Awards as the very final performance. Which (most of his fans probabley knew by understanding the lyrics from the song,) was a rather “grody”, “raunchy”, and “sexual” act on stage that shocked EVERYONE. A few thigs he performed were moves like crotch grabbing and fussing/grinding around with the male and female dancers on stage with him. The most surprising act that everyone freaked about was when he planted a big kiss on the male keyboard player. Which, the kiss, in my opinion I don’t think was a very “shocking” thing at all! Because he’s gay! He was interviewed imediately after his performance backstage by a lady from “Hollywood Access,” who of course was talking to him about his sexual acts on stage. Who straight out asked “What were you thinking?!!”

I think it’s hilarious how silly Adam was being in that video even though the lady was talking about how he will be the “Male Madonna.” But I like how honest he was when he said he wouldn’t be surprised if the video was edited on the West Coast. He also will feel very discriminated agaist if they do edit some parts out though, because female’s have done things like that before (such as the famous Madonna and Britney Spears kiss in 2003 on the awards.) He says that once a male does something like that everybody freaks out. He also claims that the kiss was “in the moment” with his STRAIGHT keyboard player. He DOES admit that they did not rehearse things exactly like that before the awards, but he was not being sneaky about it. He just says that he was having a lot of fun and got carried away and caught up in the moment.
Wednesday morning (November 25th), he was scheduled to perform another song on Good Morning America, but they canceled his appearance on the show because they said that they weren’t going to be able to trust him completely on what he was going to perform. Adam was asked about what he thought about Good Morning America canceling him to come on the show and he said that he understood they probabley had pressure on them from a lot of people and complaints and didn’t want to worry about it. He respects their decision because he understands that his performance was a little over the top. So, on Wednesday (November 25th), instead of going on Good Morning America, he was invited to perform on “The Early Show.” Once agan, he was asked about his performance at the AMAs. They talked about how there were many kids watching and about how many complaint calls from the parents that the channel ABC received. They also asked him if he wanted to apologize and he refused. Adam wasn’t going to apologize for anything, quote from Adam: “I’m not a babysitter, I’m a performer.” You should be honest and give an honest performance and that’s what he did. Adam said that he honestly really didn’t think about what kind of viewers he was going to have. He just went out there, performed what he was going to perform and had pure fun with it. Adam also said (children speaking), they should have been in bed by 11:00pm anyway, because his performace was nearly around 10:56pm, and that parents should have been monitoring what their kids were watching and what time they were supposed to go to bed at. The problem with him saying that is because he can’t win over the fact that “the parent’s did not expect what he was going to do.”
Adam does say that basically the theme of the song was about going to Clubs and being sexual. Later (Wednesday, November 25th), on the “Late Show With David Letterman”, Adam performed two Songs surrounded by his fans. Clean, great Songs. “Whataya Want From Me” and “Music Again”, which everyone enjoyed. Here’s an extra video of Ryan Seacrest talking to Adam on the radio about his performance:

The whole point of talking about this is to say to people, open up your eyes, you had to know something like that from him was going to happen at some point. For those of you who went to see the “Idols on Tour” (American Idol on Tour) with Adam Lambert, you saw him do some things on stage that were a bit different than when he was on American Idol. He told everyone (before the American Music Awards) that he was going to do something surprising and shocking and he was right on the spot about that with his performance. Apples and oranges people! He can’t impress EVERYONE, and if you felt uncomfortable with his performance, then your not for him!
