There appears to be a high volume of gay women who have their own TV show……..
Rosie O’Donnell, Suze Orman, Ellen DeGeneres, Wanda Sykes, Rachel Maddow, Portia De Rossi, Meredith Baxter Birney.
but not so many gay men who have their own show…..
I can only name 2: Anderson Cooper and Judge David Young.

I can’t help that Boy George messed up everything for himself. What makes you feel it’s discrinination? Maybe there are gay trying to get their big break and haven’t. I am glad that women are getting our fair shake. I am straight.
Well from what I see its mostly women who host talk shows so I mean the corrolation probarbly comres from there.

But yes seriously with the end of Queer Eye, there are like no gay men on TV…… even TR Knight left Grey’s Anatomy…. Sigh…
i think because gay men are too verbose. no one would understand what the hell they were trying to say although they might be entertaining to some people because they are dramatic. lesbians just know how to get down to the nitty gritty

I think there may exist a certain degree of discrimination, but I am not certain , and I don’t begrudge lesbians their positions. In fact both gay women and men are discriminated against. In terms of your question there may exist two differences that account for the difference :
1. Lesbians may have a better support network, and got their foot in the door first, Thereafter more lesbians were able to assume the more elevated positions.This is called the ” snowball effect “. in Sociology meaning that people refer others who are then hired
2. I believe society is more rejecting of gay men than lesbians. Perhaps there exist more negative stereotyping. Some of the prejudice may stem from the belief that males in general are more likely to contract HIV, and that’s open to question.Therefore more lesbians are hired.The networks as a result of these prejudices are concerned about ratings
3. The next reason in my opinion is totally sexist, untrue ,and which I don’t buy It is the false perception that male gay persons may have less talent than lesbians. Some of these prejudices were manifested by a number of answers to this question.
4. The possibility exists as per the Huffington Report, that gay males are less willing to ” out ” themselves. However I have not seen any evidence of that
