What’s your opinion on the Adam Lambert saga / drama?
Saw on the News yesterday Adam Lamberts gay antics at the Music awards.
I can’t help but to agree with him but only on the part he said about facing a double standard. We’ve seen women perform almost nude and shaking their assets in every sexual way possible to get attention. We’ve seen women making out with other women to get attention, we’ve seen women bump and grind anything on stage including men, women, a stripper pole, the floor, etc.
The standard for women is to be as sl*tty and sexual as possible and simulate as much sex as possible in an attempt for attention.
What’s up with that?
Most striking was the fact that the Entertainment network I watched normally is very supportive to female stars that have been doing this stuff for years.

I’m a guy and I constantly channel surf, there really isn’t anything on tv that interests me.
It’s actually the commericals that have become so painful to watch.
It’s the big drug maker commercials that turn me off as well. What do I care about the new (vagina ring). How empowered I feel seeing a women strutting around a pool with a smirk over her vagaring.

Kissing another guy wasn’t an issue for most of the networks but it was the simulated oral copulation. The fact that you pair the word *gay* with *antics* is homophobic.
I personally think everyone is seeing him as new and innovative whereas Jagger, Bowie, Boy George, Elton John, Sylvester etc have all been down this route thirty/forty years ago – the list is endless.
Has America flipped a switch and gone back in time because everyone is so easily outraged by issues of sexuality and this has been going on for five decades – everyone in Europe is *over it* now – time to catch up USA!
America is so vanilla and puritanical – it’s weird.

BRILLA if people *had an innate disgust towards homosexuality* as you assert do you really think Adam Lambert who is at a critical cusp in his career would have thrown it into his act? I haven’t seen a crapfight like this since we saw Janet Jackson’s booby for 1/2 a second during the Super Bowl.

I think that the women being overly sexual and ‘s l u t t y” for lack of a better term is also inappropriate. If they had such great talent, why would they need to resort to using sex to sell their performace?
However, Adam’s performance was over the line because he simulated oral sex….smashing a guy’s face into his crotch. I have NEVER seen a female performer smash a man’s face into her croth on stage. He had mn on leashes with their buttocks showing, simulating domination. I don’t think it’s healthy to think that putting someone on a leash for sexual pleasure is normal.
Also, he made out with aguy on stage. I would also disapprove of a female making out with a woman on stage….but I feel that the gay antics are even worse because most people have an innate disgust towards male homosexuality . Male-female kissing is natural so althogh it is in extreme poor taste and inappropriate, it’s not going to make most people want to puke.
Adam’s performance seriously grossed me out.

I see men being able to just walk down the street with nothing but shorts on and this is ok, for me I am a whore if I wear my bikini top. I see old men wearing nothing but tiny shorts and they constantly play with themselves.
Men are allowed to do this, if women do it must be because they are whores or it is their job. I see men pissing whereever they want and getting away with it, I see men stand there with no clothes and people laugh. A woman does it, it MUST BE SEXUAL! It sucks for both sides, especially when you can see both sides. It’s funny for men, women are whores…. got it.
I didn’t know who he was– I just watched an “Entertainment Tonight” interview with him about the Music awards incident– and all I have to say is, “Wow, he’s a total flamer.”
Well, sex sells. There’s still a double standard where women can “sacrifice” themselves on the couch and become VPs, while men can’t. What’s up with THAT double standard?
He’s just another flamboyant gay performer along the lines of Boy George, Elton John, LIberace, and Little Richard. It’s rather unfortunate that he chose to do his performance this way but it did get him attention and people are still talking about it today.
To be perfectly honest, what entertainers do or don’t do has literally ZERO effect on my life. I’m not influenced by people who can sing and dance. Not my thing, and I pay it no mind.
And I agree with the other poster who said “who watches Entertainment networks” I think it is sad commentary how much time people waste watching shows like Dancing with the Stars and AMerican Idol…..I would suspect they have a severe lack of prioroties in life

I wish everyone, straight or gay, would keep overt sexual antics off the stage and in the bedroom where they belong. It’s sad that modern “artists” are so desperate for fame and fortune that, instead of relying solely on the strength of their talent, they make their performances as sexual as possible and focus on titillating the audience. Even sadder is that the audience is so jaded and stupid that the only thing that will hold their attention is a mock-orgy. Forget the song, forget the message, forget the quality of the singer’s voice, if there’s no partial nudity and no gyrating, they’re booooored. It’s so stupid. There is so much more to life than sex.

and honestly, if his whole performance was on HBO or something, i wouldnt have cared what was in it.

but to be simulating sex acts? not so much. like, there is no way that could have been confused as anything BUT a sex act. national tv has many veiwers, not all of them want to see that
From what I hear it was a good distraction from his poor singing that night.
I have no opinion on this as I do not like my musicians who base themselves more on their image than their skills.
Sounds like his ratings are dropping and his “agents” told him to be “contraversial” to get the ratings/publicity back up.
